Rye Cooks in This Issue of Rye Magazine

Paula and I joke that, before a single episode of "Rye Cooks" aired, we had a magazine article about us, a blog, and even an award nomination (we haven't figured out what the Margies are all about -- it may have something to do with public access TV -- but if we are the only ones nominated, there is the remote possibility we will sweep them).

So here is the magazine article that appears in the latest issue of Rye Magazine, that glossy gift from the Weston Magazine Group that shows up occasionally in Rye mailboxes and is packed with an eclectic mixture of good journalism, creative writing, and photography.

The article is Paula's story of how we went from being a good neighbors to this.

In the meantime, production of episode two continues.  At our usual pace.

New On the Way Cafe Opens

Oh yes.  We have waited a long time, those of us who used to walk the dogs at Rye Town Park, ditch them at home, and then meet for coffee at the counter of the OTWC at Forest Ave and Playland Parkway.  It reopened today.

All new decor, owners, menu.  I stopped in for a cup this afternoon, watching as the new coffee bean grinder was installed and sitting tight for the first -- the very first -- cup of just-ground coffee.  

In Australia you get your fish and chips wrapped in the Telegraph; in New York maybe take-out comes in the Post but the new Cafe is more of a Wall Street Journal place. For this picture I used this morning's sports section of the New York Times because the pictures are so SMALL in that particular section, I don't have to worry about ink on the bun.
